2025 - 2026 Key Season Changes
- As an experiment for this season, the tackle sensor will not turn the light red on; we want to see if the refs can figure out a tackle without the red light. Teams with no tackle sensor must use the color White for this upcoming season
- Ball must be snapped every play, though not necessarily off the ground
- Centers can now weigh up to 35 pounds
- Games are shortened to 15-minute halves to fit in more games
- Play clock is now 40 seconds and will be strictly enforced, including kicking plays, but kicker operator may stay on field behind kicker
- Students may touch, without penalty, flipped robots or two robots stuck on each other
- A runaway bot will be ejected from a game after two warnings regardless of whether it's the same problem robot
- Both offense and defense must now line up for kicking plays (defense cannot cross LOS)
- "Tush push" formation is legal and defenses must find a way to get to the ball carrier
- No more robot points for kicking tee and a kicking tee is now required for all kicks
- One robot point awarded per drive for attempted pass beyond LOS
